microblading – permanent make-up
brows by design
Brows are arguably the most important feature on your face; they help to tell your story and whether you pencil, gel, or powder your brows, we are always searching for the perfect brow.
Some are blessed with a beautiful full brow that could rival Cara Delevingne’s, but most people have to enhance their brows in some way. Whether you have over plucked them in the past, have sparse, thin brows naturally, or have fair eyebrows, microblading could change your life for the better. So many people have real confidence issues due to the result of the eyebrows, but now there is an answer – microblading.
what is microblading?
Microblading is a permanent cosmetic treatment. Unlike the sharpie-esque effects of some permanent brows, microblading is different. Microblading (also known as brow embroidery, microstroking, feather touch and hair like strokes) is a technique that is used to mimic hair strokes to create ultra realistic brows.
Microblading is perfect for all sorts of brows, whether you need to fully reconstruct, define, cover gaps, or fill-in over plucked brows. Each hair is meticulously drawn in by hand using a microblading hand tool, it is very time consuming and requires skill and patience. Eyebrow microblading makes it possible to transform any brows into the closest thing to naturally perfect as possible.
A specially designed disposable hand tool is used to create a channel and deposit pigment into the upper layer of the skin. It creates super fine realistic looking hairs to mimic fuller brows. Because the pigment is implanted closer to the surface, the strokes appear crisp and very fine. Over time, these stroke will blur and fade, so a top up after 12-18 months will be required. This is an advantage of microblading, considering how the skin and face changes with age and eyebrow trends can differ over time.

your microblading treatment
1. consultation & patch test
During the consultation we discuss any questions you may have and go through the consultation forms – don’t worry, you will be taking them home to read, digest and complete in your own time. We then also discuss what will happen during the next session and patch test you on the products used, to check for any reactions. You will also be required to pay at least 50% of the treatment cost to secure your procedure.
3. optional brow tidy
If you have hair growth outside your new microbladed brows, I offer a complimentary wax/brow tidy, to ensure that your brows stay in the best possible shape during the healing process. Your brows must be superficially healed (allow 3 weeks or so) and we only tidy the are around the microbladed are to avoid any further trauma.
(Please note, this brow tidy is only available for full RRP paying treatments only, otherwise this will be an additional charge of £10).
2. microblading procedure
During this session, this is where the magic happens. My mission is to ensure that you feel as comfortable as possible – there is no rushing you though the treatment. After applying topical anaesthetic to your brow area, I will check through the consultation forms. We will then choose colour and design the shape of your brows and will be drawn on in advance. Once you are completely happy with the shape, I will then microblade fine hair strokes within the agreed shape.
4. top up treatment
This normally happens between 4-8 weeks after your initial microblading procedure depending on your skin healing time. During this procedure, I will be making any final adjustments in colour or shape and filling in any gaps that may have occurred during the healing process.
Please note the pre and post treatment advice of this top up session will be the same as your initial microblading procedure.

your questions answered
Why is it important to have a consultation?
A personal consultation is always required to ensure that the stylist and the client discuss the HD Brows treatment. It is an opportunity for you the client to give the stylist the information they need to carry out the correct treatment. It also gives you the time to understand what is included and what can be achieved during your treatment.
It covers the 4 key questions:
- What size brow you would like – full medium or slim.
- What colour of brow you would like – the tone and depth of the colour.
- What shape do you have in mind.
- Is there a particular type of brow you have in mind – bring in pictures if you have any.
Why do I need a patch test for microblading?
It is important to carry out a patch test for microblading to discover whether you may have a reaction to the pigment or the topical anaesthetic. Pigment and anaesthetic will normally be placed on plasters on your arm. If you have particular sensitivities, a scratch test may also be required.
Can anyone have microblading?
Microblading can be life changing for many people, but unfortunately it is not suitable for everyone. If you are pregnant or nursing, you will need to wait until you have finished nursing to have microblading treatments.
Diabetics can also not have microblading. If you have medical conditions or on certain medications, this could affect whether you are able to have the microblading procedure, how you retain pigment and how your skin heals. This will be discussed during the consultation and you may be required to obtain medical consent from your GP before you are able to have microblading.
You must also be over 18 to have the microblading procedure.
Do you remove my brow hair before you microblade?
No, there is no need to remove the brow hair - actually it't better to leave your brows alone before the treatment so I can see how your brows grow, so I can make them as natural as possible and match as much as possible to your shape.
If your brow hair is patchy, then I blend as much as possible. I will be also be looking at improving your shape and symmetry as much as possible. Remember, brows are sisters and not twins.
What is the difference between microblading and HD Brows?
HD Brows uses a number of techniques to create your desired brow shape and colour that lasts around 4-6 weeks and is on offer at £25. Microblading is a semi-permanent make-up technique. Pigment is implanted into the skin with a fine needle to create the look of hair strokes. Microblading typically lasts around 12-18 months when you will require a top up.
Can I wax before my microblading treatment?
Yes you can wax, but this should be done at least 48 hours before the microblading procedure. The ideal would be not to wax for a while before the procedure if possible, to utilise as much hair growth as possible to give a more textured appearance.
What should I do before my treatment?
Full pre treatment advice will be discussed during your consultation appointment, here is a summary:
- Brow tinting should be carried out at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
- Exfoliation or products containing glycolic acid, retinol, and alpha hydroxy acids will inflame the skin, so should be avoided for at least 72 hours in advance.
- Blood thinners should also be avoided but you should not stop taking any prescribed medication.
- Avoid alcohol and ibuprofen should be avoided for 48 hours in advance of the treatment.
What should I do after the microblading treatment?
Full aftercare will be provided and discussed during the consultation and after your treatment, but here are some key guidelines:
- Everyone heals at different rates and could take anywhere between 4-12 weeks to completely heal.
- You should not get your brows wet for at least 5 days after the procedure.
- You need to let the area heal on its own, any picking, scratching or rubbing the brow as this may cause scarring, infection or poor pigment retention.
- Avoid makeup in the area for at least 72 hours after the microblading procedure to avoid inflammation and infection.
- Exposure to direct sunlight, swimming, increased sweating, and exercising for up to 10 days following the procedure.
- Always use a high factor spf (at least 25) to prevent your brows from fading once your brows have healed.
- The same aftercare applies to your top-up appointment as well as your initial microblading procedure.
